SPD has an awesome track record in helping instructors pass their BASI technical exams.
SPD coaches are all BASI level 4 (ISTD) qualified or BASI trainers. This means they are very aware of the level you need to ski at to pass your exams and can identify the steps you need to take to get there.
The BASI level 1-2 training is a perfect preparation for either the level 1 or level 2 exam or an insight into the world of instructor training for any advanced skiers thinking of taking their first steps into the BASI system. The BASI level 3 training will prepare level 2 skiers for the ISIA technical exam. The step up from level 2 to 3 can be a tough one. The SPD coaches have helped many instructors through this exam and can support you in making the changes in your technique to help you reach the level.
These courses run for a full week immediately prior to the start of the BASI exams so you will feel comfortable going into the exams having trained on the pitches the examiners will be asking you to ski.

BASI Training Level 1-2
The goal of this course is to improve your personal performance and prepare you for the BASI level 1 and 2 exams. We will clarify your understanding of the fundamental elements and show how the relate to the central theme and your high end skiing.
The SPD small group promise (max 8 in a group) ensures you’ll get plenty of individual feedback from your coach. Off snow video sessions will help to identify the areas of your technique that do and don’t work and help you understand what you need to change for the next day’s skiing. Although the focus of the course will be on the technical side of the exams, we will also look at the teaching criteria and help you develop your understanding in that area too.
BASI Training Level 3
This course is designed for those who have their BASI level two qualification and are training for their level 3 (ISIA) technical exam. The focus will be on improving your technical performance in the four strands and increasing awareness of your own level. The SPD coaches will be clear about where your skiing is relative to the ISIA level and will help you identify the areas you need to work on to pass the exam.
The SPD small group promise (max 8 in a group) ensures you’ll get plenty of individual feedback from your coach. Off snow video sessions will focus on performances in each of the strands and give you direct goals to change in your technique for the following day.
